Desert Delft
I began experimenting with cobalt + ceramics when moving to Moab. I’ve always loved the look of giant walls of hand-painted tiles, especially in the Dutch Delftware tradition.
Over the last few years, I’ve been experimenting with making my own hand-painted tiles, just for fun. It was, for me, a welcome respite from computers… and especially AI. My feeds are full of heinous, chat-GPT generated images, flyers and captions… to the point that I don’t believe I can trust anything digital.
I’ve found myself loving the human-made errors that are present in anything handmade. I make each of these tiles by hand, and love the little inconsistencies that make it clear that each piece is hand-made from start to finish.
My next big project is a large mural made entirely out of my Desert Delft tiles. Follow the progress through my blog or by subscribing to my newsletter!
